Personalize with an Aquamarine stone

A person is not born with a sense of style; the sense is developed by paying close attention to current fashion trends. Jewelry accompanies a person through their life and provides the visual pleasure and the final touches to an individual look. The choice of accessories is personal and gives an individual the feeling of comfort and harmony. Many women wear their gemstone to give their look the final touch. The aquamarine gemstone is an exquisite piece of jewelry that can be worn or given as a gift on special occasions.

Aquamarine Engagement Ring

The gemstone was adopted by the American National Association of Jewelers in 1912 represents the month of March and is the birthstone of the Zodiac sign of Pisces. The stone comes in three different shades of blue which include teal, blue-green and the almost colorless pale blue. The stone can be worn in a ring, stud or tangling earrings, bracelet or a necklace. With the necklace the only dilemma is whether to wear them with low-cut dresses or shirts or a high-necked outfit. Aquamarine gemstone can also be found in brooches which are fashionable this year.

The aquamarine gemstone can also be given as an engagement ring. If one is looking to personalize the engagement ring and make it unique, look no further, accompanying diamonds and a platinum ring with a pale blue aquamarine stone will create a one of a kind piece of jewelry that will have special meaning and create a lasting memory of the occasion. Become creative and propose to your love with aquamarine engagement rings and make the moment last forever.

Interest Rates on Engagement Ring Financing and Payment Plans

Perhaps one of the most important things to consider about your engagement ring payment plan or financing is the interest rate. When you finance an engagement ring, you agree to pay a percentage of the balance owed each month for the privilege of the loan. The higher the percentage, the more the interest. Typically, higher interest rates mean that an installment loan will have a higher payment, while with revolving and credit card loans, the balance will take longer to pay off as more of your payment goes to principal.

In addition to knowing your rate, you must ask your jeweler if the interest is fixed or variable. With a fixed interest rate, the percentage will remain the same throughout the life of the loan. If you have a variable rate engagement ring financing agreement, the rate could change according to a national standard, such as the prime rate of interest. Also, some engagement ring payment plans and credit cards have low introductory rates that increase after six months or a year.

A final thing to ask your jeweler is if late payments affect your interest rate. For some types of engagement ring financing loans, a payment that is even one day late could revert your loan to a higher interest rate, significantly increasing your payment. For engagement ring credit cards and revolving lines, going over your limit might also cause a jump in interest rate.

Leaning About the Payment Terms for Engagement Ring Financing

As you discuss your options for engagement ring financing with your jeweler, it is crucial that you understand the payment terms that you will be expected to meet over the life of the contract or payment plan.

Payment schedule

Ask your jeweler how often you will be expected to pay and when. Most types of engagement ring financing require monthly payments, but some allow you to skip payments once or twice per year or delay your payments for a certain number of months. In addition, find out if your loan has any type of grace period for payments made after the due date.

Additional considerations for installment loan engagement ring financing

With this type of financing, your payments will usually be the same every month. If you choose to pay extra, you shorten the term or duration of your loan and may be able to make a smaller payment the next month. All documentation for installment loan engagement ring financing explains how overages of payments are handled, and it is crucial that you read this section carefully.
Also, ask your jeweler if there will be a balloon payment required at the end of the loan. This term refers to a final payment that is higher than the others paid over the life of the loan.

Additional considerations for other types of ring financing

With revolving and credit card engagement ring financing, your payment will vary each month. Inquire about how your payment is calculated, so that you will know what to expect when your first bill comes. In these types of loans, paying more than the minimum payment will help you pay back the money borrowed for your ring, but will not enable you to skip a monthly payment.

Ultimately, remember that any type of engagement ring payment plan or loan has an impact upon your credit score. Failure to repay the money borrowed for your ring according to the payment terms could damage your credit and make it difficult for you to do everything from buying a car to purchasing a new home with your new spouse.

Types of Engagement Ring Financing

When you’re shopping for your engagement ring, there are four primary types of financing available, each with its own specific set of features. In today’s post, we’ll take a look at each, so that you will be fully prepared to discuss your options with jewelers.

  • Installment - With an installment loan for engagement ring financing, you make equal payments on the ring for a certain number of months or years that are agreed to when you sign your paperwork, such as 36 months or three years. When you finish paying off the loan, your obligation is completed, and if you ever wanted to purchase something from the jeweler again, you would need to take out a new loan. Typically, installment loans have the lowest interest rates.
  • Revolving - In revolving financing for an engagement ring, you receive a line of credit, from which you can borrow money to pay for your ring. Each month, you will receive a bill in the mail requesting that you pay a certain percentage of the balance owed plus interest. As you pay back the money on the line of credit, you can make additional purchases. Usually, revolving loans for engagement rings have higher interest rates than installments.
  • Proprietary Credit Card - With a proprietary credit card, you receive a plastic card from your jeweler that you can use to make purchases only in the store. The card works like all other credit cards, where you receive a bill with a minimum payment request each month. Proprietary credit cards frequently have the highest interest rates for standard engagement ring financing.
  • Same-as-Cash Financing - With same-as-cash financing, you are allowed to wait a certain number of months before making a payment. At the end of this time period, the loan typically resorts to either a revolving line or a proprietary credit card. It’s very important to examine the interest rate for same-as-cash financing, in some cases, the rate is as much as double what you would pay on a standard revolving or proprietary card.

Financing and Payment Plans for Engagement Rings

Recently, hundreds of people turned out to the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, to hunt for a hidden engagement ring. At the end of the hunt, the happy couple Andy Giblin and Steph Shaffer emerged victorious with the $10,000 engagement ring, which they were able to keep for free.

It’s understandable why so many people would spend their Saturdays hunting for an engagement ring. Aside from the fun involved with the event, purchasing an engagement ring can be a heavy financial burden, particularly in troubled economic times like the ones so many of us are currently in.

Fortunately, if you’re not able to win an engagement ring in a scavenger hunt, you can still afford to purchase one. Many jewelers offers payment plans to make it easier to purchase the ring of your dreams; however, it’s important to make sure you fully understand how financing works.

Although financing is an excellent option for engagement ring shoppers, like all types of credit agreements, payment plans can lead to financial hardship and damaged credit for individuals who do not carefully research their offers. Before signing any type of financing documentation for an engagement ring, it is important that you read the paperwork carefully and make sure you understand the following:

  • What type of financing you are entering into
  • The payment terms of the financing
  • The interest rate of the financing
  • The fees associated with the financing

Over the next week, we will be adding additional blog postings that fully discuss each of these matters to assist you in making decisions regarding engagement ring financing and payment plans.

Protect Your Engagement Ring From Being Lost

A jewelry box is one way to protect your engagement ring. Photo by Durova

Recently, two stories have been featured in newspapers related to incredible recoveries of lost engagement rings.

The first story comes from Pompano Beach, Florida, where Brian McGuinn accidentally threw out his wife’s engagement ring, which was sitting on the kitchen sink next to his disposable razor. Desperate to find his devastated wife’s ring, he headed to the local landfill and obtained permission to start searching. Incredibly, Brian found the ring, a 1.6-carat diamond, which he paid $10,000 for five years ago.

Across the world in Sydney, Australia, Joanne Norman had a tearful reunion with her engagement ring. While playing a game of water polo in a public pool, her ring slipped off. The pool area was searched by Joanne, her friends and the pool management to no avail. Desperate, she hired salvage divers to perform a search, only to have them come up empty. Finally, she found a classified ad posted by a man who did scuba diving with a special metal detector. The gentleman, Brad Lovell, strapped on his gear and emerged from the pool shortly after, ring in hand.

For every story like these, there are hundreds of others that do not end so happily. It’s important to protect your engagement ring, and it is simple to do so if you just keep some key things in mind:

  • Always place your engagement ring in a jewelry box or other secure, noticeable container when you are not wearing it. Make sure that the container is out of the way of trash cans to avoid accidentally knocking it inside.
  • If you lose weight and your ring becomes loose, visit a jeweler to have the ring resized. While there is a cost associated with this, it is much cheaper than having to replace your ring should it slide off your finger.
  • Never wear your engagement ring during sporting and outdoor activities, including swimming, sunbathing or hiking.
  • Purchase insurance for your engagement ring that covers loss as well as theft.
